The Hindu Marriage

Hi eveyone,
Our story started on the 27th Sept 2009 when we officially got married. Now this phase of life turned a full circle with our Hindu wedding that took place on March 10, 2010 in Kolkata. We extend our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to all those who attended the wedding and shared our joy with us and also to those who couldn't be present at the event but blessed us with their prayers. The boy is ahead of the girl, lol. My reception invitation card is ready before my wedding invitation card. For the marriage, we sent an invite to all our friends using evite. Yet to send the reception invitation, will do so using the actual card image [attached below]

Got Married on September 27, 2009

The wait finally ended. Our first marriage (the registered one) got solemnised on 27th September 2009 (Nabomi) in the presence of both families and friends. It took place @ Abhijit's residence in Kolkata. Debopriya was dressed in a red saree and Abhijit was clad in a golden kurta.

Though folks had gathered earlier, the registrar; Mr Debasish De came at 8 PM. Debopriya's brother, Jethu and Abhijit's dad were the witness. The ceremony lasted close to 1.5 hours including signing of the papers and taking vows (Abhijit found it very amusing, since the vows were taken both in bengali and english with special stress on the words "legal" ; "lawful" ; "wed wife").

After signing the papers, Abhijit presented his wife, Debopriya with a beautiful diamond ring (Note : the design was custom made by both Abhijit and Debopriya looking at various websites, they even have a prototype picture of it in their personal blog). Debopriya's family presented Abhijit with a gold chain

We had our rounds of picture taking with some special poses (that made Debopriya laugh) composed by Prasanta Da, our official photographer for all family occassions

This is the first of our marriages. The second one (Hindu marriage) is on March 10, 2010

Abhi & Debo

Together in Kolkata

Our trip to Kolkata was very shortlived. Debopriya came only for 2 days and out of that the first day went for marriage and preparations.

Abhijit visited Debopriya the next day (on the 28th Sep) since she had to come to Abhijit's home to take measurements for couple of dresses. They utilized the time and took a good ride across Kolkata's streets early morning the same day and also spent some time together at Victoria Memorial.


In the evening, while dropping Debopriya back at her uncle's home both of them spent time at South City Mall. It was fun with lots and lots of picture taking :-) The engagement ring received lot of attention from the couple

Together in Pune

After spending 2 days @ Kolkata, we left for Pune. Initially, all four of us (Debo and her mom, me and my mom) had plans but at the last moment Abhijit's mom had to cancel her trip (personal reasons). Both of us had good time and we really came close to each other :-) We roamed across Pune streets, went for movies, had wonderful dinners at O'hotel and Kiva, visited Bibek's sister's family, had good time with Debo's salsa friends at Punjabi Spice, and went to Bar B Q nation with the family. Overall, it was a fun trip. We both shared our emotions to the extent possible. The parting was sad but we managed it with a smile and a warm hug.

We didnt take any snaps on the Pune streets but took couple of pictures at the apartment. Debo was clad in her beautiful salsa red gown and the new top she bought from Westside.
