The wait finally ended. Our first marriage (the registered one) got solemnised on 27th September 2009 (Nabomi) in the presence of both families and friends. It took place @ Abhijit's residence in Kolkata. Debopriya was dressed in a red saree and Abhijit was clad in a golden kurta.
Though folks had gathered earlier, the registrar; Mr Debasish De came at 8 PM. Debopriya's brother, Jethu and Abhijit's dad were the witness. The ceremony lasted close to 1.5 hours including signing of the papers and taking vows (Abhijit found it very amusing, since the vows were taken both in bengali and english with special stress on the words "legal" ; "lawful" ; "wed wife").
After signing the papers, Abhijit presented his wife, Debopriya with a beautiful diamond ring (Note : the design was custom made by both Abhijit and Debopriya looking at various websites, they even have a prototype picture of it in their personal blog). Debopriya's family presented Abhijit with a gold chain
We had our rounds of picture taking with some special poses (that made Debopriya laugh) composed by Prasanta Da, our official photographer for all family occassions
This is the first of our marriages. The second one (Hindu marriage) is on March 10, 2010
